Hi there writing friends,

Today we will write.

500 words, a new scene, thirty minutes, some freewriting—whatever it takes to get us to the page. Are you having moments of fretfulness about your project yet? If so, good: this means you are GETTING INTO IT. Come into the living room of the writer’s struggles. I’m there, too. Let’s have a soothing beverage, start a fire, and chat about it. Below are three things I try when this happens, a three-step writing exercise to try, encouragement from Virginia Woolf’s writing woes, and inspiration from Li-Young Lee.
